Solemo (WIP)
Written and designed in the Narrascope 2025 Inform7 Boot Camp; my thanks to Judith and Ruber for all of their help and support!
Solemo is an interactive fiction set in a middle-of-nowhere frontier town, in the not-so-distant future. Play as a contractor hired to fix a communications relay hidden somewhere in the town, and get ready to discover more than you bargained for. That is, if you can even remember who you are...
This prototype is a proof-of-concept that I plan to continue working on. The game currently contains upwards of five rooms, with multiple items in most rooms and special conditions and use cases for a select few of said items. The most basic way to achieve the outlined objective is currently implemented, and I would love to further expand on the themes, characters, and major forces of Solemo only hinted at in this version.
Play the game by clicking on the link above and selecting either "Play in Browser" to play the game in the embedded window or "Story File" to download the story file itself. To interact with the game, you type commands into the box and hit enter.
If you're stuck on some actions to take in the game, here are some suggestions:
- Go (N/S/E/W/any cardinal direction; in, out, inside, outside, etc.)
- Take [insert thing]
- Examine [insert thing]
- Open/Close [insert thing]
- Look (this will repeat the description of the room you are in)
- Inventory (this will show you a list of all the items you are holding)
- Lock/Unlock [specify a door] with [insert thing]
- Switch On/Off [insert thing]
- Eat/Drink [insert thing]
